Domestic Homicide Reviews

“The admin service that was provided alongside the independent chairing was invaluable. During the tendering process, some providers only chaired the panel without offering the admin service - this would have meant a huge time burden on our internal team.”

- Feedback from Community Safety Partnership

Standing Together have been involved in the DHR process from its inception building an invaluable body of knowledge and skills. We have chaired over 70 DHRs, 96% of which were approved by the Quality Assurance Panel the first time.

As well as chairing DHRs, we sit on the Home Office QA Panel, complete suicide reviews and joint reviews, e.g. SAR and Child Learning Reviews, and conduct research collating the important findings from DHRs nationally.

Our Resources

 Our offer

We have an effective and proven process that delivers clear outcomes at a competitive cost.

We understand the essential activities required in DHRs and have significant knowledge of the dynamics of domestic abuse to undertake a thorough analysis of the findings. Our experience of the CCR and domestic abuse partnerships ensures we balance the needs of the CSP and panel agencies with the sensitivities of the victim’s and perpetrator’s families. You can rely on us to ensure your DHR has correct and committed agency representation, thorough analysis of findings, and clear and focused recommendations with systems to monitor implementation and success.

We are, as far as we know, the only dedicated DHR team in the country. Our team consists of a DHR Manager, two dedicated DHR coordination staff, a finance manager, and a pool of up to 8 Independent Chairs for the DHRs. Our team of associates are highly skilled specialists and are experts in the field of domestic abuse.

With this, we are able to offer a complete and inclusive packaged approach that delivers high quality overview reports and independent, expert chairing. We add value through:

  • Advice before the review and support afterwards.

  • A complete administrative support package.

  • Templates for all elements of the review.

  • Quality Assurance process.

  • Family liaison system.

  • Supervision and support for the Chair (our Associate).

Our Research

We continue to strive to collate the findings from DHRs and share this learning nationally. Choosing Standing Together means you will be part of this national effort.

In 2016, we worked in partnership with the Child and Women Abuse Studies Unit at London Metropolitan University to analyse and compile findings from 32 Standing Together authored DHR Overview Reports. You can view this research here.

In 2019 we carried out research and authored the MOPAC funded London Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) Case Analysis and Review of Local Authorities DHR Process. You can view this research here.

DHR Learning the Lessons. Webinar Series
